Project Journey

Twelve stages, in order, with no stage skipped silently.

Every stage below can also be engaged on its own. Expand a stage to see what happens in it and what the client is asked to decide.

The journey

Use the stages in order for a full project, or enter at the stage your project has already reached.

1 · Initial conversation

What the space must do, who it serves, who decides, and what success looks like. No commitment is required to have this conversation.

2 · Feasibility & site review

The site or building is reviewed against the program: capacity, condition, constraints, and what is realistically possible there.

3 · Programming & space planning

Rooms, flows, and adjacencies are defined — how people move, gather, learn, and worship in the space, not just how many square feet it has.

4 · Budget framing & roadmap

A preliminary budget frame and a sequenced roadmap, so the board or family can approve a direction with numbers in hand.

5 · Team matching

Architects, designers, and engineers are matched to this project type and location from PRIMER's curated partner network.

6 · Design development

Architecture, interiors, and exterior design are developed together, with engineering coordination throughout.

7 · Material & finish selection

Materials, finishes, furniture, and spatial experience are selected as part of the design, with supply implications priced — not discovered later.

8 · Permitting & approvals

Zoning and permitting strategy is carried through approvals, with the client's own authorities involved wherever their requirements apply.

9 · Procurement & manufacturing

Items are sourced or manufactured — including through Primer Supply — and quoted per piece before ordering.

10 · Construction coordination

Licensed contractors, selected by project and location, are coordinated through the build, with PRIMER as the accountable partner.

11 · Installation & fit-out

Furniture, fixtures, and equipment are delivered, installed, and checked against the design and the quote.

12 · Opening & handover

Final walkthrough, handover documentation, and a space ready to open — with a clear record of what was delivered.
